Ed: Check out the MD_Extras_33 disk for this rather useful program.

Introduction
SnoopDOS is a utility used for monitoring the libraries opened via the use
of the system functions -
CurrentDir()
DeleteFile()
Execute()
LoadSeg()
Lock()
Open()
which covers most of the access methods commonly used in file extraction.
Purpose
So, SnoopDOS monitors all these function, SO WHAT! I don't program in
assembler (or anything else for that matter) so what do I do with SnoopDOS?
I use SnoopDOS to assist in compiling disks and installing games and
utilities onto my hard disk. This allows me to take one program from a
diskful and not have to take the myriad of sundry libraries that may or may
not be used. This ensures that I do not fill up disks with unnecessary
files or have to copy all the files onto a disk and slowly delete the files
that I feel are not required till a guru or similar occurs.
How to use
Firing up SnoopDOS is a simple enough process, just click on the icon
supplied. SnoopDOS will then open a window. Any calls to the above
mentioned libraries will be displayed in this window. A click of the
gadget sends the window to the background or foreground, allowing some
control. Any missing files are indicated by a FAIL message against the
appropriate library. Other methods of usage are to send the output to a
file, although this has a serious disadvantage of being unusable if the
system crashes/locks, as a second command is needed to close the file to
make it usable.
My preferred method of use is to fire up SnoopDOS and then load the
program that I want to transfer, note the auxiliary files used and copy
them across. Then repeat the procedure to ensure that nothing has been
missed. SnoopDOS is then shut down by using the CTRL/C key combination.
Compatibility
This program is compatible with WB1.3 and WB2.x, although the its
compatibility with WB3.x is something that will have to wait several years
before I will be able to test it! (unless the price drops)
Cost
This is the best bit of the whole program - it's gratis - free even.
Availability.
This program was picked up from a Magazine CoverDisk, but has been
supplied to Tim at MegaDisC with this review. I have not been able to find
this on the Fish Disk lists, although I think SnoopDOS V1.4 is available on
a TBAG disk.
